I’m not sure why this doesn’t exist, but saving dozens of presets (or hundreds) would be far more elegant with a key command.
Now it’s March 2025 and we still don’t have a key command to use for Save Track Preset!
Why? Without a key command it’s very difficult to create a macro.
We need it!
Bump.
Unless someone has a macro to share?
This’d be super useful. I support! To me the day-in-andday-out workflow and ease-of-use things like this are so important.
I wonder what the Key Command Mixer > File: Load Selected Channels is suppose to do?
Sounded like it could’ve been the one, but I can’t get it to do anything. Not the Save version of it either.
I use Save Selected and Load Selected very often.
How saving/loading Track Presets differ from Save/Load Selected, play around and you decide. iirc, there are differences.
This toms.grp channel is from my basic template. In track notes, I have 9 processing tools listed, that I feel could be most used for toms on the group channel level.
Select the Toms.grp channel then I press Load Selected, Explorer opens, and it’s a quick way to load all 9 processors.
If I select toms.gp.vmx then all processors open.
Then I can decide what to use and what to remove. Obviously most of it gets removed.
It takes quite a while to set all this up by saving then folder organizing in Explorer, but once set up, it works for me quite well.
Also with Save/Load selected, you can save multiple tracks.
For unknown reasons Save/Load selected does not work on Instrument tracks…at least when I checked last.
Like the other methods, Save/Load selected only applies to specific channels. Audio, efx, and group. I never checked MIDI. You can not load efx into audio etc. Only audio into audio.
Seems to work, here. I tested this with :
- Ctrl+Alt+W for Mixer > File: Save selected channels
- Ctrl+Alt+X for Mixer > File: Load selected channels
It works as long as I attempt to load the saved channel with the same type of track already selected. Otherwise, I get a ‘Channels Type Mismatch’ warning. IMO, it’s a command to be used cautiously, as it is not undoable.
Cubase Pro 15.0.10 / Windows 10 - 22H2.
Strange. I tried these two commands briefly yesterday, just for the purpose of this thread and for my own curiosity, but neither seemed to do anything.
That’s what I tested on. I’ll give it a try again on some audio tracks to check it out.
I use Track Archives a lot, but that’s yet another approach for storing tracks/channels.
I will check today, but I’m pretty sure either Mix Undo or the normal undo will take you back to the prior state.
There are differences between Save/Load Track Presets and Save/Load Selected, but I can’t remember the differences.
It seems presets in general are features added over a long period of time, and obviously you don’t want to remove something old once users rely on it…therefore you get overlapping functions.
