I am trying to change the note duration key commands and I can get to the screen I have attached but can’t seem to figure out how to actually change the keypad numbers for the note values. Can anyone give my a step-by-step guide to changing the values. I know I should try to get used to the 6 being the quarter note but my muscle memory over the past 33 years won’t go away. Wasting a lot of time changing note values in both Dorico and Finale now because of the difference.
Thanks for any help.
Since Dorico doesn’t like it when you have the same shortcut assigned to two key commands, it may be easiest to first delete the currently assigned shortcuts and then add your own.
In your current screenshot, with the key selected, you can click Remove Key Command to remove that shortcut. Repeat this for each duration.
Then go back into the ones you want to assign. Put your cursor in the “Press shortcut” field at the top and type the key you want to assign. Wait a second, then press Add Key Command.
When you’re all done, click Apply and then Close.
asherber,
This worked great. Your explanation was excellent. Thank you so much. My muscle memory thanks you as well.
