Key editor: changing note length adds new note on top - why?

When I use Key Editor to manually adjust a note’s length using the mouse, this happens: instead of changing the original note’s length, a new note is superimposed over it. I must have changed a setting somewhere but I’ve not seen this before. What have I done?

Update: The notes were recorded in real time; when I used Key Editor I found that each note had been duplicated four times, which accounts for the note appearing underneath when I reduced the length of what turned out to be the topmost note. I have no idea why this is happening.

Did you use Cycle when recording? It could also be that you have an unwanted MIDI feedback loop that would result in this behavior. (Check your MIDI Ports in Studio Setup and if you’re using “All MIDI”, make sure you only include the relevant ports.)

As a quick remedy, you can use the MIDI > Functions > Delete Doubles function.

Ah yes, that seems to be the reason. Not sure how that recording mode changed to Cycle and Merge rather than Replace.
