Issue:
In the Key Editor, when I copy and paste notes over the top of pre-existing notes they overlap / stack ontop of each other causing instruments to play 2 notes at the same time, which I personally find is undesirable basically 100% of the time.
Feature Request:
In the Key Editor, when copy / pasting notes over pre-existing notes, any overlapping notes should be automatically deleted.
Consider implementing some kind of “Legato” copy / paste setting for the Key Editor that can be enabled that would keep the overlapping notes.
Off the top of my head I’m not sure where this is, but either in the “functions” menu or LE presets, there is a “delete overlapping notes” function which I’m sure you can map to a shortcut

Delete overlaps function was discussed recently.
Delete overlaps is only going to work as indended when your midi notes have relatuveky the same start and end times.
What is relative? Try it yourself. I dont know the thresholds.
For example, Delete Overlaps is great when you have accidentally recorded double midi notes. But a note that starts well before another note may not necessarily be deleted and my assumption is that this is what the OP is referring to.

Are you sure this was “Delete Overlaps” and not “Delete Doubles”?
I don’t see any issues with Delete Overlaps.

You’re absolutely right. My apologies. It was delete doubles.

The ideal copy and paste functionality in my opinion would be:
- If the newly pasted note is the same length or longer = delete the overlapped note
- If the newly pasted note is shorter than the length of the overlapped note = split and delete that specific segment of the overlapped note only (not the entire note)
