Out of decades long habit I constantly press Enter on the number pad instead Return to finish input. Enter on the number pad starts or stops playback, which is annoying because it usually starts at the beginning while I am editing somewhere else in the piece.
I tried to find the shortcut in Key Commands prefs to remove/change but it’s not under Start/Stop playback. But where is it?
Hi @mrgullible , sorry that I don’t have a keypad to test it.
EDIT: per default it seems that your mentioned (enter on keypad) shortcut may be registered in this position (together with the Space bar). And you should be able to remove it from there:
I don’t know if this may help: but generally if you want to know which command a shortcut/key is assigned to, you can try following:
- in Preferences/Key Commands choose/select a command with no shortcuts assigned
- highlight the field Press shortcut on the right panel
- press the Enter key on your number pad
- dorico will warn you and shows to which command that key/shortcut is assigned to (just above the Print Summary button, with a white triangle and some explaining text)
What does it say, when you try this procedure? Which warning shows?
Here an example of the procedure, pressing Enter on my MacBook (without numberpad):

Also if you go to menu Help/Key Commands, Dorico will open (in your default browser) a nice graphical overview of your assigned Key Commands, with various Context categories:
Thanks. This helps a lot. I didn’t know the symbol for the Enter key - but that one does show for Playback Position.
