Kontakt 7 issue in Cubase 13.0.41 after playing MIDI sequence

Hello,
Checking if anyone has bumped into this issue and if anyone knows the cause and a fix for this.
I have a MIDI pattern that I exported from EZKeys 2 for testing.
In Cubase, latest version 13.0.41, I added 4 instances of Kontakt 7
The first 3 have various piano / keyboard presets and the 4th has Amadeus String Ensemble.
I dropped the MIDI pattern into the first piano instance and split the pattern into 4 separate sections that are 8 bars each
I created a Chord Track and drug the original patterns into that to get the chords
I drug the chord track chords to the 4th Kontakt instance with Amadeus Strings
I play the song and everything works fine the first time.
I reset the Cubase cursor to the beginning but when I play the song a second time, there are no strings, just the piano(s) play back
I have to open the 4th instance of Kontakt and reload the preset every time.
Has anyone had this problem and is there a way to fix?
Thanks!

There is probably a continuous controller in the sequence that is turning down the volume in the patch where you don’t hear anything. The most typical CCs for this are 1 (mod wheel) and 11 (expression), but 7 (volume) could also be a possibility, and there may be others (e.g. for breath controllers) that might affect some patches, too.

My guess is that, when you just load the Kontakt patch and start playing the first time, it is at its default volume level, which isn’t silence. However, over the course of playing the sequence, the controller that affects that patch’s volume changes to a zero value, turning it down. Then it is down when you start it a second time.

To work around this, you’d either need to remove the CC in question from the sequence or figure out an initial value for it to get to the starting volume you want and add that at the beginning of the sequence. I’m not familiar with Amadeus Strings, but most strings patches allow controlling volume continuously via either CC1, CC11, or a combination of the two.

Thank you for the info. Makes sense. I’ve been tied up on work around my yard and I hope to check this out next week end. I appreciate your insight into this issue.
