Kontakt 7 VST adds over 50 channels/mixers to my project for one instrument

Does anyone have experience with using Kontakt 7?

While putting together a demo in LogicPro in my Finale days, I created a simple Kontakt instrument with ten adjacent keys playing 10 different cannon and musket sounds. Now I am adding a Kontakt VST instance to my Dorico project for a couple of songs that need those cannon blasts. It was easy to add and the sounds play as I would expect.

The trouble is that single Kontakt 7 instance added roughly 60 channels/mixers to my project. The first five are channel 1 and 4 aux channels that seem to come with it. The remaining channels are mostly marked unused.

I haven’t found anything in the Kontakt documentation yet to get rid of those channels.

Any suggestions?

I am not a regular Kontakt user although I did manage to use an older version for a couple of instruments with Finale. One was a calliope that I built out of individual sound files for each pitch. But I am not well versed in getting around in the Kontakt interface, at least as far as getting rid of outputs is concerned.

Okay. I was looking at it the wrong way. By clicking on the gear icon for the Kontakt VST in Dorico, I was able to set the number of MIDI ports and MIDI channels to 1 and the number of outputs to show in the mixer to 1.
