Ex Logic and brand new Cubase user here, and I am just so happy with it thus far. I did notice one thing when building my orchestral template. This could be because I just updated my Kontakt 8 player. But opening and closing Konakt is really slugglish, mostly to close. I see the spinning beach ball for like a second before the plug in closes. I went ahead to double check this in LPX too and I am not having that issue there. Also it seems Kontakt 7 is way faster to open/close. Should I move my instruments back to Kontakt 7 (ugh) or is there a setting in Kontakt 8 or Cubase that you can point me to. Or any other ideas? Lastly, if I go back to Kontakt 7 will that cause me other issues as time moves on? Thanks so much! Thanks so much!
The only reason I see why Kontakt 7 could be a problem in the near future is if you are on Mac and switch to OS 27. I doubt there will be any revolution causing compabiltiy issues in the near future other than that in the Cubase world. Anyways, I think Kontakt 8 is much better in many ways than K7 so I would go with that for the future. I am sure a few seconds wont matter that much if you really get start logging you time.
I am not noticing sluggishness on my Intel machine with Sequoia. K8 in Cubase is about as fast as it is in Logic.
But: it has been crashing Cubase ever since 8 came out.
I quit Cubase, it tears down its UI and after a minute or so I get a dialog telling me it crashed. The crash is in K8, I sent emails to NI support, they admit it’s their problem but it hasn’t been fixed yet.
Hey Zip, thanks for your reply and yes Cubase is locking and crashing more now too, I assume from Kontakt 8 but who knows? Also, I opened Kontakt 8 vs 7 in a brand new Cubase session, 8 is much slower to open and close for sure. In Logic there is no difference so I have no idea what is not jiving with Kontakt 8 and Cubase on my machine. Thanks!
