Kontakt and NI insolvency

With the NI insolvency, is Kontakt therefore discontinued/unsupported? I find it suprisingly difficult to find a direct answer to this question.

From the web: “Native Instruments (NI), including its subsidiaries iZotope, Plugin Alliance, and Brainworx, filed for preliminary insolvency in Berlin in late January 2026, driven by, among other factors, financial pressures and restructuring challenges. Business operations are expected to continue, with management aiming for a restructuring of the company.”

So as of yet they are not out of business. Instead they are looking for new investors buying in or taking over the company.

Until they issue a statement, I suspect it’s business as usual.

Kontakt is certainly a profitable asset, so even if the company is stripped for parts, it’s likely to continue.

I’ve been getting a higher than usual amount of e-mails from Plugin Alliance the past few weeks, with 24h flash sales offers. I guess that’s related.

On VI_Control there’s a 104 page thread on this. Stupidly, I missed the 103 pages after the first one (somehow!).

I do feel reluctant to invest any time or energy on Kontakt now though.

the latest suggestion being that Yamaha might be interested. Which would be interesting!

Excellent post on the VI-control forum yesterday from one of the Moderators.
