I had an old Akai LPK25 lying around the studio. I bought the appropriate cable at Best Buy (old micro-b), plugged it into my laptop (Surface), and it instantly worked with Dorico and Synchron player with no changes.
I believe the logical thing at this point is to return the MicroKEY Air for a refund—it is just not working with the apps. The Akai is not wireless, but it does everything else I need for note entry. It is also slightly shorter so it will fit my existing music backpack.
