Lane colors default to track color when saving and re-opening project file

Using Cubase 14, Mac Sequoia 15.5

  1. record track
  2. color code lanes (separate from track color)
  3. save and close project file
  4. re-open project file - lanes default to track color, all manual color coding lost

When I open the lanes, I can color code them as needed (for example, keeping track of good vocal takes for comping later) - this is incredibly helpful. BUT as soon as I save and re-open the file, all of the color coding in the lanes vanishes. It’s an incredibly annoying bug for any workflow.

This was submitted as a support request, but I am told it is a “feature request.” Wondering if anyone else has this issue (which seems like a bug to me) and found any solution?

In Cubase 15, the color of the lanes always syncs to the color of the track. For what you’re doing, wouldn’t it be just as useful if you use the color-selection tool to change the colors of the individual events on the lanes instead?

The color selection tool works just fine for events - and is useful for that, but, again, since I can change overall lane colors too, it SHOULD (like keeping the event color selection) keep those colors when opening/closing the file, rather than snapping back to the default track color after opening/closing the file.

I do appreciate your workaround solution.
