Large Time signature placement and fonts

Hello and good morning.

Today, I have a question about large time signatures with busy works. Here is a snapshot of a piece I’m working on. I like having the large TS to make it clear for the conductor, however, I feel that several of the fonts I try still crowd the measures a bit. I’ve tried resizing and can’t quite get this correct. 1st, Is there a narrower font one might suggest ? 2nd, Is there a way to stretch the font without making in enlarge side to side? 3rd, If I decide to float the TS above the staff, is there a way to also include the TS above the staff in other groupings like it does here. When I select above staff, it only places the TS on top of the score.

Thanks!

I think your attachment didn’t attach… (better also to include the Dorico File)

Just in case this is important to your ability to attach things here…

My recollection is that time signatures above the staff are only above the staff.

oops, lets try that again… Here’s the snapshot. I will attach a separate shortened file if it’s needed. Or someone can walk me through it.

Thought I would follow up to see if anyone out there had any more thoughts on fonts for this?

One of the default time signature appearances you can choose in Layout Options is a narrower, sans serif font, but if you’re looking for a narrower, serif font, you will probably have to do a bit of searching. Google Fonts might be a good place to start: all the fonts on that site use open licenses, so you can download them and use them in your projects at no cost.
