I’ve tried everything I know to fix this, but a solution has eluded me.
File attached. I was just finishing a piano work and on the last page, I moved the last two staves up a bit to accommodate a text frame to put the dates and my location. Looked great but I decided to insert two measures (#742-743 below) to repeat them, and this involves those last two systems. If I insert any measures in those two systems, all hell breaks lose with the layout on that page:
Same thing happens. if I use the system track to insert bars in those two systems. But prior to those two systems, everything works fine.
Here’s what I’ve tried, and nothing has worked so far:
Removed the page override for page 24
Hit Reset Layout
Inserted a ton of measures after the last bar of page 23, shifting the populated measures to another page, but there isn’t any way I’m finding to delete that now blank page 23, and deleting those measures just reapplies the faulty template.
If I didn’t want to insert two measures, this would not even have been recognized by me as an issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Dorico is incorporating your custom staff spacing adjustments. (The red boxes below.) Remove those overrides first, then add the bars and it will be fine.
To add to @FredGUnn’s reply, if you want to move those staves closer together to make room at the bottom, I would suggest moving up the bottom of the music frame and letting Dorico’s vertical justification handle the spacing. Or create a new page template with a shorter music frame, but personally I don’t mind a page override in this case.
BTW, I find it’s faster to simply drag the music frame up on a final page rather than manually adjust the staves as you did. You already have an override for that text frame anyway, so there’s no issue with wanting to avoid an override.
Thanks. I had noticed those red boxes with lines but hadn’t found anything online about how to get rid of them. Just clicked on them and deleted-all good now. THANKS!!!
