You should carefully read the support document about decommissing the eLicenser service. There is one paragraph about activation codes

How that works is something you need to ask Steinberg

Yeah. Nobody understands this.
And what they mean with this.
It doesnāt matter how it works, as long as Steinberg says it will be possible. That is all you need.
Yes, but today is last day to do something wrong or not. With everything software you have
Every day is full of opportunities in that department ![]()
Relax, as long as you have done the things that were suggested above you are fine. Trust Steinberg, they will have the technical solution in store exactly as they promised. Besides, they always try to make their customers whole ![]()
Iām just donāt want to lose my code and grace period updates
Oh really? Finally? Now we can delete the Elicenser? Manually or better wit SDA?
The SDA canāt delete it, I just deinstalled it via the Windows Control panel
I am on Mac. And one week ago when I installed Cubase 14 (fresh install) it was automatically installed the Elicenser. So, if I will remove it now it donāt install this one again? Because before of you was removed it, it will be installed again when you open SDA
Start the SDA, it will probably update itself on Mac as it did for me on Windows.
OK, will try. Thanks! ![]()
I donāt have any products that rely on the e-Licenser, so when I uninstalled the e-Licenser and launched Cubase Elements 12; an Error message popped up!
Are users who use Cubase 12 Pro, Artist and Elements! Stuck with this error message if they try to uninstall the e-licenser? Even when they do not need it.
Are you sure you donāt have any products on your rig that require the eLicenser?
As far as Cubase 12 is concerned - it does not need an eLicenser and never needed one in the first place no matter which version you are running (Artist, Elements, Pro etc).
Yeah! Iām pretty sure I have no products that need the e-licenser. Unless Backbone and Halion Sonic 7 need it?
No, they dont. Please, check in your account - do you see any vouchers for products that can be updated to the new licensing sytem?
Did you update the Download Assistant to the latest version from today?
Otherwise the relationship still exists.
Uninstall elicenserā¦restart computerā¦then start up Elements.
If still an error msg, close everythingā¦then open Windows task manager processes to manually close that relatively tiny object server file.
Things to try based on guys whoāve posted that issue here on the forums in the past few years (who then marked the suggestions as ā solved)
Just checked my account. There are no products that require an update to the new licensing system.
Yes! I updated the Download Assistant today!
Okay! Will try this suggestion!
