Hi, if I have one or a few layers in a song and route them to the “song name /tracks” group (the fader with 2 musical notes) and save the project, when I reopen the project they are routed to STEREO OUT and not to the “song name /tracks” group.
Which version? I tried this on 3.0.55 and cannot confirm. After reloading project and/or restarting program the output of layers are routet to the Song as I specified.
Also the version 2.2.130 didn’t gave me a result you described.
But it doesn’t mean that the bug isn’t possible. Please try on new project and write down every step, like 1. New project, 2. add two layers, 3. switch to Mixer and route both to Song channel, 4. Save, reopen etc. Or what are you doing between these and other steps? There always can be difference in what any of us are doing and what developers do while developing and testing.
EDIT: just installed 3.0.56 and this version also restore routes correctly.
3.0.56 but 3.0.55 was the same. If I create a new project it works as it should. My current project (the one that won’t save that change) has 60 songs and has been in use since version 1 or 2. I have no intention on recreating it as it would be a LOT of hours of work. If I create a new group and route all layers to it, it works. But that should not be necessary as there is already a ‘song name group / tracks’.
Sure it’s a bug. Please tray this - for one song where and when it happens, change routing second time and save project. I’m almost sure that on second save it will save and restore correctly.
P.S. I had many times redoing the same on all songs after some updates earlier, and I’m almost sure I’m still alive
If we use pre-release, then anything can happen and our additional hours of redoing are a benefit to us in many cases. Why? Because after redoing that way our project will be more appropriate to the version you use. That simple, isn’t? ![]()
Just curious … is Stereo Out your Main out and/or is it the first in the list, when selecting an Out?
Stereo Out is my main and is also the first in the list when selecting an Out.
@musicullum could it be the same as my problem? Losing Stack/Channel-Out after reload (again)
oh, I tried repeatedly and it doesn’t make a difference. For now I’m using a group I created and routing all my layers / tracks there, so I can use a send from it to my personal monitor mix and balance that with what I receive from PA system (my band without keyboards), which comes through a global stereo audio input, which is always active.
@ArthurNeeman isn’t this that thing that we tried when SongGroup was introduced and tried to route Global Stack and Global Layer to SongGroup?
@Daniel_Drummond are you trying this with Global Layers? (Global Part / Layer)? Or with songLayers?
(I haven’t re-checked later, but here was my report in 2024:
GBL-Layer audio OUT / SongGroup routing question - #4 by Spork )
@PHAgeBang yes, I think your situation with songGroup with Global-Stack/Layer is similar, am I getting it wrong?
Who would create such a route and why? BTW it works and doesn’t revert to Stereo Out after reload even if the song doesn’t have such Song Group. Tried in 3.3.57.
I more and more think it is kind of the same problem as I posted 4 days ago … Losing Stack/Channel-Out after reload (again) - #4 by PHAgeBang
@musicullum asked the same and I still have the same counter question - why not?
Global Stack to have a single point to make general settings for the Input and the Song Group for Song individual adjustments for the Song.
They just leave it available, but the logic would be that you cannot route global thing to local just for one reason - local is only local for one song and cannot be the same entity in other songs until that entity isn’t also global. Song Group from the beginning is local for the song where it’s created.
For your need you create global group (called simply “Group”) and route/send your global stacks/layers to it. Why not?
EDIT: I also use global Stack for my vocal for the same reason you told, but I route it to virtual OUT, then every song has it’s own stack that receives signal from virtual IN. That way I avoid any problems and available inconsistencies you meet.
Folks, if I may chime in here. ![]()
I’m slightly losing track of what this thread is all about.
@Daniel_Drummond Please clarify: Are you talking about Global Layers or Song Layers? It could help if you provided a screenshot how your Mixer is set up.
@PHAgeBang Please let’s not confuse topics. Daniel is talking about Layers, not Stacks.
Please - let’s stay focussed.
Thanks
Kai
For example you could make song related changes for GLOBALS w.o. additional extra programming
(different insert, different sends, different levels)
I close this topic temporarily. It’s really getting way too cluttered. I’ll reopen it as soon as Daniel supplies us with the information necessary to look further into his problem.
