Layout bracket tool not working

I’ve always been able to select brackets in page mode for the score, but suddenly in the latest Cubase 12 it doesn’t work. Nothing happens when I click the blank section to the left of the instrument name. Did I miss something? Some new setting?
Any help will be much appreciated

Hi! I think you’ve accidentally locked the layer that contains the bracket.
Read this (last section named “Layer Buttons”).
