I’ve been working on a score for 9 instruments, and now editing the layout of the individual parts. 8 out of 9 works perfectly, but one part layout has a bug (?) which I can’t seem to solve. The music has lots of short flows, and I don’t want them to be on separate pages. When in the layout options I click the ‘allow new flow on existing page’ it basically puts ALL the music on one page, impossible to read, with 3500% coverage. This doesn’t happen in any other parts. What could be the reason for this, and how do I solve it? There has been no formatting done to this part yet.
Can someone help me with this?
Welcome to the forum @ukingadom.
In Engrave mode, open the Jump Bar (press J) and search for Reset Layout. Does this fix it?
Normally in this type of situation, there are System or Frame Breaks looking ahead for the next Break. For example, if you want to put a particular number of bars in a system, Dorico will create a System Break at the start of the selection, and another System Break at the end of the selection. The first one is looking for the second one so that it knows when to stop squeezing bars into the system. If you remove the second one, Dorico will continue squeezing bars into that system until wherever the next Break (or end of the flow) occurs.
It looks like you’ve got a system or frame break that is set to ‘wait for next…’
Show signposts, select all the system and frame breaks (select one of them and hit shaft-ctrl/cmd-a) and hit delete.

Yes, it did!!
I’m sure I have tried factory reset at one point, but not reset layout…
Thanks for the help!
As far as I could tell there were not signposts, that’s why I was confused. This happed upon first opening that part…
You’re welcome. I just extended my response a little to explain things more, if that helps at all.
It’s possible that you have set System and/or Frame Break signposts to not be displayed. It’s also possible it was just hidden amongst the music! lol
I feel like I will never understand what happened here
I have checked for the signpost, as I’ve been working with layouts now for days, so suspected that immediately. Maybe just couldn’t see the one guilty one in all the jumble. Although I still don’t understand how it would have gotten there…
Thanks for quick help!!
