Layout names like 1st trombone - Possible to have st in superscript?

I want my layout names to have names like 1st trombone, but with the “st” in superscript.

Is there a way of doing this (some special tags)?

I’m on Dorico 6 Pro.

I think you can’t alter the layoutname so it uses custom fonts.

But, you can create an override, and change this

into the text

Do this when you’re sure no changes in the template are needed, because the pverride prevents them from showing on this Layout

Meanwhile, the actual Layout name stays the same

What font are you using? The easiest workaround is to modify the font to use characters you won’t use otherwise, like % or $, and change those to superscript st and nd glyphs.

If you share your font name, I can do that for you.

Ok, I don’t have that font and I don’t have permission to alter it. I also assume it doesn’t include superscript letters, sorry.

Thanks for this option. But I use the layout name in the header of the following pages too, so then I have to do all of them manually.
Then I’ll rather leave it to the default (Trombone 1). I was just wondering if it was possible to have it in the variable.

If you create a Superscript Character Style:

Then you can enter this in the layout label
1{@style:Superscript@}st{@/style@} Trombone

Result:

[TonH]

Then I would maybe create a duplicate Default template, just for the trombones
