To recall visibility you just press one of the locator buttons in toolbar, left or right as needed.
Or key commands also make them visible as needed.
So toolbar buttons for locators could be toggle - when on, lit, locator is visible.
Any modifier key active - don’t shift state - just move locator like for Alt do.
If using left locator for recording you usually don’t need the right one.
And overall, they are in the way, and you have to move them to end of project or something not to interfere when you are to drag a selection in ruler - much too often this happends. You have to move project cursor far right somewhere, then press Alt + left locator button and same on right - so it’s out of sight.
