Hello!
I hate being a newbie and posting questions… hopefully the answer isn’t too obvious.
I am a Jazz pianist and play with a relatively locked hands approach… meaning that most the time my LH is following my RH up close. My LH tends to play a chord voicing, and my RH is soloing in the very next octave… this means, a simple split won’t show the difference between my LH and RH.
Is there any way to resolve this problem?

Welcome to the forum, Eddie. There’s no way at present for Dorico to determine which notes are played by each hand automatically, so you will have to do some work to move notes between hands. This is pretty easy, though: select the note that you want to move to the other staff and type Alt+N to move it to the staff above, or Alt+M to move it to the staff below. If you want to just cross it to the staff above or below, e.g. for cross-staff beaming, then it’s just N for the staff above or M for the staff below with no modifier.
Thank you so much. To be honest, DORICO is very user intuitive, and I’m finding this much easier than I thought it would be. I can’t describe it, but there’s something subtle about the the graphic layout is very easy on the eye (!)
I’m really glad to hear you’re enjoying using it so far. Long may it continue!
