When importing settings via the Library manager I noticed that the beaming is not changed to match the imported settings. A few searches suggest that it is because Dorico considers my existing beaming to have manual overrides? That’s easy enough to fix, although it would be nice if the beaming was automatically changed when importing settings. That got me to thinking. Is there any way to know what elements in a score contain manual overrides? Or, is there a single function (maybe buried in a menu somewhere) that will reset every element in the score to match what is in all the various options dialogs (and that were just imported via the library manager). I’d like to make that last one a feature request if it doesn’t already exist.
Does this explain (at the bottom)? You have various options to select, affecting, or ignoring beaming etc.
or are you referring to something else?
It’s conceivable that you might want to change the default Engraving Options using the Library Manager, but also want to keep any manual adjustments.
There isn’t currently a “Remove all Manual adjustments” function. I can some utility in this, if you received a document that was a complete mess and you wanted a clean start.
It would be easy to create a Script that ran through a few of the Reset commands.
However, you wouldn’t (necessarily) want to remove harmonics, or hidden stems; or changed noteheads, etc. If you needed an S-shaped slur in a keyboard part, then “Reset Appearance” would reset that back to a standard slur.
I can understand now why the changes don’t happen with the Library manager, but I’d certainly like a global reset option. In my case, I’m updating a few very plain, short projects (no slurs, notehead changes, etc.) I’d set aside some time ago that are in the middle stages of creation to now be consistent with my “house style.” I hadn’t thought of going the script route. Thanks.
Reset Position, Reset Appearance and Reset Beaming should probably be sufficient.
