I am coming over from Finale and text boxes were so simple in Finale and seem so difficult in Dorico 6. I just want to place a library number (48) at the top of the right-hand side of this part in around #30 font size. I have looked at numerous ways to make it happen in Dorico, but nothing happens just on one, single, part.
How about a nice, simple solution to get my library number (48) up there on right hand top corner.

Do you only want this library number to appear in one single part, not all parts? Then the simplest way is to add it in Engrave mode, either adding the text to one of the existing text frames, or creating a new text frame just for this number.
Keep in mind that by editing the page in this way, you are creating a page override, and this page will no longer respond to changes to the underlying page template.
Another approach would be to create a new page template that includes the library number and add a page template change to this page in the part. This is more flexible, but probably too complicated if you just want it in one part.
You might also choose to create a new page template that uses a token to read the library number from one of the fields in Project Info. This is even more flexible – but again, more than you need for a number in a single part in a single project.
If you’d like more specific instructions, it would help if you could upload your project file here, so we can see what you already have set up.
If you just want one number in one place on one part layout, you might as well just add it as Shift-X text.
Make sure you have finished the layout of that part layout.
Go to Write Mode.
Go to the last bar or note of the first system.
Add system text with Shift-X. Put in the Number 48 and click outside the text editor.
Switch to Engrave Mode and position your text addition.
You could add it to the Project Info in a token field that already exists on your first page such as the copyright information. Line feeds are accepted in that box, so it can appear on its own line.
I find it easy too. However, our thread starter hasn’t considered Shift-X text. It’s such a helpful and universal tool every Dorico user should learn immediately.
And it’s the tool that allows you to write something down without it having a semantic meaning in Dorico’s sense.
I did use the recommendation which kb suggested, and it worked perfectly to get a 48 onto the top, right corner of my part.
Thanks to all of you for your help on my simple project. I am using some easy single page parts from a dance band library I have played for about 40+ years. I have been using Dorico for this project. The original parts I am working from were hand copied by the arranger, who did it in…pencil! You can guess what that pages look like done in rather soft pencil, after all of these years of being played.
