I have a question about multi-licenses. (We got an automated response from Steinberg support that they are out of the office until September 8.) My department bought several Dorico licenses (25 I think). They’re working great for our faculty, but we have been unable to use them in our computer lab. Our IT guy activated them, but Dorico only works for his admin user. Is there any way that we can have it activated on the computers for all users? I am a pc user, and our lab computers are macs, so I don’t know the technology.
That sounds like your IT guy might have messed up. During the installation, there should have been a prompt to install for “all users” or sometimes “everyone who uses this computer,” with the other choice being “just me.”
There might be a way to fix it without having to reinstall the software on every computer but it’s convoluted and the directions are different depending on the OS (if not the specific version). Uninstalling and reinstalling may be the best path forward. Sorry!
If anyone has a better idea, please chime in!

- I can access the software from multiple user accounts, but the activation seems to only hold in each user account. For example, I login under admin, install software, login to Steinberg Activation Manager using department account, Activate license. I then log out of my computers admin account, and in as student1. Student1 is prompted to sign into Steinberg Activation Manager and unless they use the department account, they are unable to activate the software. Same thing applies for Student2 and Student3 and so on.
To me, this is more aligned with a traditional “user” license experience, not a “device” license experience. We are hoping there is a way to activate the software for all users on each device, so that students do not have to sign in and “activate” the software, since the license is tied to the department email account, and not the students accounts.
Thanks in advance
