My font apps all allow the user to choose which fonts to include in any particular list, but I don’t know if this would be unduly time consuming to program in Dorico.
Serif and non serif fonts are another area for font filtering, and so on. And user defined font lists.
But I know that this wouldn’t be a high priority feature to program compared to all the other things that need to be done.
I would say this is an obvious case for an option to display only SMuFL fonts. A user might potentially want to use a specific glyph from a non-SMuFL music font, or even from a non-music font.
I don’t know whether Dorico requires a json file or not. But I think the larger point is that whatever logic Dorico uses to populate the font list in the Music Fonts dialog could also be used as an optional filter for other font lists.
Yes, this is what I meant. An option to display only registered* SMuFL fonts in the Music Symbols window.

I was guessing that Dorico treats the very existence of a json as evidence that the font is SMuFL and is the filter. (But I may be way off base)
Daniel long ago asked us to specify what feature e wanted and not to try to suggest how it should be programmed. Since the desired feature has been adequately described (and I took the liberty of adding “Feature Request” to the title info), it appears that this thread has everything it needs, and it’s now up to the Development Team to decide whether (and how) to implement it.
(I think we’re just jawing amongst ourselves about how one might identify a SMuFL font, not suggesting implementations. Dorico already has a way to do this, in any case.)
