Limiting Velocity Ranges

Hi is there a way to limit midi note on by setting a velocity range so only notes above/below a certain range will transmit ? You can do this in software like Halion, but can’t see how to do this in the core VST live program, Specifically I want to see if I can hard-limit the velocity ranges of my Nord Stage 4 parts so they only trigger when I want them to ( which you can’t do natively ) using VST live , any info appreciated thanks

In layers you can not only define the note range, but also the velocity range. Move the zone borders up/down.

Hi thanks got that, but that doesn’t stop a note sounding, it still sends a note on message but from the lowest to highest velocity that has been set so if low and high are set to 127, no matter how lightly you play, the note will sound at 127 . In Halion you can set the velocity so note on only triggers a sound within the velocity range set, so if you set the velocity to 127 and play lightly, the sample doesn’t trigger. Maybe one for feature requests, appreciate the reply anyway!

I think, you found the velocity curve and note the zone selection. Look here for a description how to setup zones.

Hello @simonh7,

I’ve just tested this it works as it should:
2 layers: 1st layer from 0-64 velocity 2nd layer 77-127 velocity
lightly playing only plays layer 1 playing hard only plays layer 2? If you hit 65-76 nothing plays.

Isn’t this what you are looking for or are you requesting something else?
