Line offset

Hello all,

If you import this xml file into this dorico file you get this :

I have prepared the dorico file to show these note heads instead of the supported xml import note heads.
I have also prepared the default solid line to be thick and also changed the default line padding to 0 to get this line placement.
there is a problem with the dot but we will not talk about that at this moment.

My question is :
why do the notes placed on a staff line get an offset thick line ? if I delete that and manually places the same line it positions itself right.

I have been clicking looking in engraver option on ‘lines’ and ‘glissando lines’

noteheads thick line2.dorico (2,9 Mo)

EJS-DORICO 153 dyna2.musicxml (14,7 Ko)

They are gliss lines, not ordinary lines. I guess the default thin gliss line between two notes on the same staff line would disappear if not offset. Can’t find any setting for it under Engraving Options->Gliss Lines.
Maybe you could rewrite to use ordinary lines between noteheads instead of gliss lines. Not sure if they are included in the xml spec, though.

But then you use a normal line and not a gliss? With gliss I get the same position.

Jesper

hm..
when I replace the line I use the (modified) ‘solid line’. and I have the good position. in the xml file I use the ‘slide’ tag because the glissando tag is mostly wavy..

for the positions, in fact the only thing I got a reaction to was the ‘lines inside the staff’..

But they all show up as gliss lines, so those settings are irrelevant unless you insert lines manually. Did you check the Engraving Options under Gliss Lines?

Jesper

ok. where do I see that ?

it’s the dorico xml import that decides where this goes.

and when I finally changed this ‘horisontal gap inside the staff’ it changed to the position I wanted…

?

In the status bar.

Jesper

aha, and when I replaced it, it’s a line…

ok. but, so, where is this offset in play ?? I did a dot on the last line just to check that it wasn’t a dot related position. and it’s not because the line before has the same, and no dot…

As I said, I don’t thing there’s an option under Gliss Lines that will solve it, and if you can’t import other lines than gliss or slide, you’re out of luck. Gliss lines are entered with Shift-O gliss.
