I’ve done a lead sheet for rhythm section project. It has two verses with repeat signs and two endings. Now, I would like to add a sax player. Problem is, unlike the rhythm section, the sax has different lines for the two verses. Question; is there a way to add a “linear” (no repeats) sax part to this project?
Not that I know. Perhaps you could add the Sax in two different voices and suppress playback on alternate repeats… (or create two sax players and combine them on the same layout?)
Thank you, Janus, though the problem with that (if I am understanding you correctly [and I am not very experienced with Dorico, so who knows?]) is that I need to be able to print the sax part for our sax player. It kind of sounds like your approach creates two separate sax parts, so how to get them to print as one?
Hi @RossiPosse, if you don’t want separate players, one possibility is to insert a staff above into the Sax and use the two staves (with repeat) to clearly notate the music for the first time and the second time (adding system text to clarify). The part will automatically mirror this. If in the chorus you have the same music, just remove the extra staff for those bars, so you can write the music in one staff.:
