Just wondering if the lines palette will ever be developed into a pop-up for some automation. Here are some of the lines that always send me to the palette -
brackets (for string double stops)
wiggly line (to put after the custom percussion trill sign for timpani that someone made)
fill (my own creation for marking a drum fill with the word followed by a dotted line. Very standard jazz, pop and musical theater notation.)
Also would LOVE to lose the line palette’s lovely habit of popping me to the first measure of my score whenever it is opened. Yes, it does return if I apply my line immediately … but still!!
Also - is there a way to add the piano sustain mark and line without having to open the Performance Technique palette for keyboards? I should think that adding pedal markings to keyboards is such a standard notation item that there has to be a quicker way to add it that I must have missed. Is there?

It took me some experimenting but I finally realized that the notch is NOT applied as a separate line, but is added to the middle of an existing pedal line. Is that explained somewhere?
Now here’s another question. When I go to put a circle over a hi-hat to indicate open, I get this list from the performance techniques popup:
So I don’t seem to be able to apply the proper open hi-hat symbol without going in to the PT palette. I’m presently triggering the open-hi-hat sound via the percussion map, but I’d like to set this up to happen by using the proper symbol and the expression map … if I can get to the correct symbol without digging through the palette every time. Suggestions?
I believe this is a known issue. When multiple playing techniques share the same popover text, the first one will be applied regardless of which one is selected from the list.
If you select each playing technique (the one from the popover and the one from the palette) in the score, you’ll see in the status bar that they are different.
And in Library > Playing Techniques, the “Open” technique under Brass and the one under Unpitched Percussion use different glyphs – the former uses U+E5E7 (brassMuteOpen) and the latter uses U+E7F8 (pictOpen). Why do they use different glyphs? Why are the glyphs different sizes? I don’t know, but there’s probably a reason.
