Link Track To Mixer Visibility Configuration

Use cases:

  • Selecting a violin MIDI track in the project window automatically shows all string VSTi returns in the mixer.
  • Selecting a background vocal audio track automatically shows all background vocal tracks.

The purpose of this feature is to show relevant tracks in the mixer without having to interact with the mixer at all to allow for constant visual feedback and reduce the amounts of steps needed to adjust mixing parameters by eliminating the need to search for the right tracks.

The current features don’t allow this. The channel tab only shows a single track, and “Sync Project and MixConsole” does not work with VSTi heavy workflows because we need to see MIDI and instruments tracks in the project window but VSTi returns in the mixer. Having to manually scroll through the mixer, or open/close folders, load the right VC adds unnecessary steps and interrupts workflow, so most of us just skip the process entirely and irrelevant tracks are displayed in the mixer most of the time.

This could be achieved by adding a drop down menu in the track inspector to assign VCs to a specific mix console. Clicking on the track recalls the assigned VC in the assigned mix console. The first track is used and other tracks are ignored when multiple tracks are selected and assigned to different VCs.

Consider adding a checkbox to add the track itself to the VC. This would be useful for audio tracks like background vocals. Duplicating the track adds it to the assigned VC if the checkbox is enabled. It would greatly reduce the need to constantly update VCs manually.

Please also add this option to the “Add Track” window. This would solve the current problem of new tracks automatically being added to all VCs, by giving the user the option to choose which VC is assigned to the track when created.

Lastly, please make sure to add this function to the PLE so multiple tracks can easily be assigned or reassigned to VCs.
