Linked group chanels automation lost after save/load cycle

I use Group channels like Drus, Guitars, etc. I use Analouge summing, so if is want to fade out the track, i must automate all the groups, to do this. For this i use a VCA fader.

All groups in “Link 2”, and the link 2 controller is the VCA fader. At the end of the track, i automate volume to 0.

If i SAVE the projekt, in postion after the volume automation, then on the next LOAd, i loose all the groups volume! All 0.

So the process.

  1. Create groups, with andom volume.
  2. Create a VCA fader to selected groups.
  3. Automate the VCA fader volume to 0.
  4. SAVE the project, in position: The play head mustplace AFTER the last automation point.
  5. Close Cubase!! If you close just the project, then it loads fine.
  6. Open cubase, open the saved projekt. All group volue information lost forever.

Saved projekt:

Loaded projekt:

A long standing and well documented issue.
Welcome to the club of Cubase users that stay away from using VCAs.

Thanks. Do you hawe a solution for this siutation? Or i must automate all the groups if i want to fade out at the same time?

Here are your options:

  1. Do not use VCAs
  2. Set an initial automation point for Volume on all the tracks that get controlled by the VCA
  3. When saving the project make sure the song position pointer is located at a position where the VCA automation is at 0.0dB; you have to do that every time you save the project.

Pick your poison. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

What @Johnny_Moneto said and also careful with VCA and using Virgin Territory in the automation panel.
