List of All Key Commands in 10.5. 20 - Pdf and xlsx available

BTW, right click menu also supports hotkeys, Disable Track is B. Much faster than hotkey or mouse.

I have never knew how to do this! So useful! But is there any menu for this?

Yes! Having a keycommand that focus the next free insert slot and opens plugin search - would be a killer thing! Inspired by Ableton. Adding a new plugin there has awesome flow. Ctrl+F (search) > EQ(query) > down(select) > enter(apply): and there you have an EQ. Quick and easy.

From there, you can go to the next slot with SHIFT LEFT/ SHIFT RIGHT. You can press ALT ENTER to “Activate” the selected slot.

Looks like an abandoned idea or something. Really usels.

Function: When you give this command, the Preference Auto Select Events under Cursor is Activated/Deactivated.

What does this Preference actually do? I tried it from the select menu, actually it should be called: select events under playhead (transport bar). Activating this option doesn’t work for me in C10.0.3. What is expected behaviour? Events under mouse cursor becomes selected?

Cut Head

This is something Cubase 10 doesn’t have by default.

Open Device Panel
Function: Opens the Device Panel for the selected track.
Keyworthiness: 5 depending (easily available on Inspector)

Where is Inspector? I don’t get Device Panels, but I thought you can create macro-rotaries there (like one that control few parameters). Are there some tutorials about device panels out there?

Save as Default
Function: ?
Keyworthiness: ?

Maybe this is something to do with plugins. There is option “Save current preset as default”

Set Spacer between Selected Events

I wonder what is use case for this?

I will be able to transform your Excel into HTML with search, hit me up when you are done.

I didn’t know that! I’ll study the page you posted in that other thread. It’s unbelievable how many things are hidden from plain sight yet they work. And the crazy thing is, people who are used to the shortcuts will keep using them even if those shortcut displays disappear due to an update or any other reason, and they will think nothing of it. But someone who doesn’t keep the 20+ years history of the program into their head will just assume the function doesn’t exist, when in fact it DOES exist, it’s just hidden. Mindblowing.

I have never knew how to do this! So useful! But is there any menu for this?

I’m not sure I get you. It’s in Audio>Realtime Processing>Unstretch Audio. Is this what you mean?

I’m not familiar with Ableton, but I think it’s a pretty logical thing to have regardless.

Looks like an abandoned idea or something. Really usels.

Sometimes I wonder if there are commands that are used under the hood JUST for the CC121 or other controllers. Maybe it’s something like this, maybe it’s something left over and useless as you say, and they didn’t have time to take it out yet?

What does this Preference actually do? I tried it from the select menu, actually it should be called: select events under playhead (transport bar). Activating this option doesn’t work for me in C10.0.3. What is expected behaviour? Events under mouse cursor becomes selected?

Well, it seems to auto-select the MIDI events (notes) in editors when you position your cursor somewhere. (Simple click on the timeline/ruler)

Open Device Panel
Function: Opens the Device Panel for the selected track.
Keyworthiness: 5 depending (easily available on Inspector)

Where is Inspector? I don’t get Device Panels, but I thought you can create macro-rotaries there (like one that control few parameters). Are there some tutorials about device panels out there?

The Inspector is the Left Zone of the project window. If you enter the setup (from the cog icon) you can make it so the device panels show. Device panels seem awfully powerful. I don’t have the slightest idea about them. Maybe some darks arts specialists are still around to share some tips and tricks.

Save as Default
Function: ?
Keyworthiness: ?

Maybe this is something to do with plugins. There is option “Save current preset as default”

I tested that, but… nothing. It’s a mystery.

Set Spacer between Selected Events
I wonder what is use case for this?

I wonder if it’s crosstalk from Nuendo. I imagine that if you work in time mode and have lots of events parker one right after the other, and you wanted them to occur at a set interval, you’d use this command. And then the events would be all spaced apart by the seconds specified in the dialog. (Let’s say we selected 10 seconds, Event A would stay still, the next event (B) would be moved so that it occured 10 seconds after A, then C would be moved so that it occured 10 seconds after B, etc. etc.)

I will be able to transform your Excel into HTML with search, hit me up when you are done.

YOU are a saint! Thank you so very much!

A big thanks to all of you guys! Your support and encouragement is VERY MUCH appreciated!

  • Audio - Background Color Modulation

Function: Activates/Deactivates background color modulation.
Keyworthiness: 3
It seems that background color modulation doesn’t work with transparent events. It will make the event color solid and modulate it from there.

  • Audio - Create Audio Images during Record

This key command is a one way street. Once I reach the end, i.e. Standard - Solo, I don’t have a way to go back.

  • Audio - Enable Automatic Hitpoint Detection

Function: Activates/Deactivates automatic Hitpoint detection.
Keyworthiness: 5 depending
This comand does not create Hitpoints itself, neither is it retroactive. This means, if you have Automatic Detection enabled and record an event, you will get Hitpoints. Now, if you give the command, the hitpoints will not dissapear for this event. It’s just they will not be auto-created for the next event that you record. (And of course when you record said next event, and give the command afterwards, the event will not have hitpoints automatically calculated for it.)

  • Audio - Interpolate Audio Waveforms

Function: Activates/Deactivates interpolation of audio waveforms.
Keyworthiness: 5 depending
This command interpolates sample values to form curves when you zoom in to one sample per pixel or less. Keep this in mind if it looks like this is command is doing nothing.

Keyworthiness: 7 depending

  • Editing - Auto Select Events under Cursor.

Function: Activates/Deactivates. When activated, positioning the cursor will automatically select all events under it.
Keyworthiness: 4
This is a duplicate entry. Also exists in Edit>Auto Select Events under Cursor.

This command is a preference switch, issuing it will not select any events by itself.

  • Editing - Cycle Follows Range Selection

Function: Activates/Deactivates. When activated: If you make a range selection, the left and right locators will follow, and take positions on the left and on the right of the range, respectively. When deactivated: Range selections don’t affect the locators.

Function: Cycles between “Musical”, “Time Linear”, and “Follow Transport Main Display”. When you then create a new track, it will use the relevant Time Base.
Keyworthiness: 5

  • Editing - Delete Overlaps

Function: Activates/Deactivates. When activated: Moving an audio event/midi part so that it overlaps another one will delete the overlapped area.

I don’t notice much of a difference.(?)

  • Edit - Select Track on Background Click

Function: Activates/Deactivates. When activated, clicking in empty space between parts/events of the same track will select the track.

Keyworthiness: 9

  • Event Display - Show Overlaps

Function: Cycles between “Show Overlaps: Always”, “Show Overlaps: On Mouse Over” and “Show Overlaps: Never”
Keyworthiness: 6
I can’t figure out how “On Mouse Over” works. I always see the overlaps (“zebra strip”), be it “On Mouse Over” or “Always”. I would expect that “On Mouse Over” I would need to, you know, move the mouse over the area in question for the “zebra strip” to show up. It seems it doesn’t work this way. Comments?

Function: Activates/Deactivates.
Keyworthiness: 6
I expected this command to connect to the Inspector>Editor>Length>Between Selected

It is not connected. As this is a preference, it sort of makes sense, yet the same function mentioned above does not have a key command. ?

I am not sure about how those two same(?) functions interact when one is on and the other is off.

  • MIDI - MIDI Latency Mode

Function: Cycles between “Low”, “Normal”, “High”.

Keyworthiness: 3 (not something to change frequently I imagine)

  • MIDI - Split MIDI Controllers

Function: Activates/Deactivates. When activated: If you split a MIDI part in the project window, this preference will make it so that the new part gets a CC data node at its start (if the value was different than 0). When deactivated: The controller will not get a data node at the start. (and playback oddities may ensue if you throw away the first part that had the CC value leading into the the second parts value.)
Keyworthiness: 3 (not something to change frequently I imagine)
I cannot imagine why someone would want to keep this preference deactivated. (?)

  • MIDI - Split MIDI Events

Function: Activates/Deactivates. When activated, loading a plug-in will immediately bring up its window (GUI).
Keyworthiness: 8
If you are planning on creating 10 instances of “Mystic” for example, it’s a good idea to deactivate this preference before the batch creation. Even if you can close all plug-in windows with one key after the fact, it takes some time to actually load all those windows, so it’s better if you don’t let them load from the get-go, using this preference.

  • Plug-ins - Plug-in Editors “Always on Top”

Function: Activates/Deactivates. Per manual: “Always shows the control panels for effect plug-ins and VST instruments on top of other windows.”
Keyworthiness: 8?
? Well, not working quite as I would expect here. ?

  • Plug-ins - Suspend VST 3 plug-in processing when no audio signals are received

Function: Activates/Deactivates. The troublesome preference. Steinberg advised to keep this off until further notice (at the time of 10.5.20). When activated, VST 3 plug-ins suspend their processing (thus improving performance and reducing cpu load) when no audio is passing through.

When you finally have finished, I hope you put everything here in a PDF download?

I could easily make it a pdf in this format, yes. But what I’d really like, is if keto88 could make the excel (from which I’m taking the data and posting it here as text) into an html (Offline). That would be the bomb. I will of course post the excel file when I’m done, and a pdf/doc/txt of this current format.

I’m getting there!

We have a marker at 9. If we activate the preference and then double click on the marker, the cycle will collapse: Left Locator will be set at 9, and Right Locator will be set at 9.
