Little sound issue at stop/play

Hi guys,
Sorry for this bad title… I’m not inspired to right a good title.

I’m using a VoiceLive Play pedal and it is plugged to my PC with USB cable. In that case, I have In and Out by USB.

In VST Live 2, I choose the Asio4ALL driver and Asio4All is configured to use VoiceLive Play USB (in the WDM Devices list).

Now, I can listen the music from VST Live.

The issue is, when I stop the music and I go to the beginning of the music and play again, there is a sound hit after 1/2 second (a kind of audio glitch).

No problem with Asio4All and my computer sound driver.

Hi! That one appeared me a few times but couldn’t catch the reason. But exactly how you explained. Something like a sudden-loud-white noise just about half second after it starts playing. Also I don’t have Asio4All installed, and while have a Voicelive3, not using it with VSTLive, so if you have similar phenomeon, the problem should be somewhere else.

  • Do you have the latest v2.1.5?
  • Just an additional idea: what if running Voicelive through the GenericLowLatencyAsio?

So sorry for everyone for quality… Could reproduce something. Is this phenomeon the same with yours?

Having a hard time to watch your video. Firefox shows this, Edge plays sound but no video.

…and then having a hard time to spot the problem, sounds ok (but sound is a bit “crackled” throughout the entire video?)
So maybe better to describe it. A short crackle/dropout after 1/2 second is best desrcription so far, right? It might be best to use a sinewave at 500 Hz or so. Tried that with 2.1.15, trying to mimic your way of operation, but no crackles (ASIO4All).

Dear @musicullum I feel terrible sorry, you had such a bounch of probl with my iphone rec (probably would run immediately on iOS device) I could only shoot via my phone.

Here is some another rec. Generated 220Hz SINE.
220.wav

Starting it, then relocating, starting, also doing START/STOP cycles… and yes, that one seems to be still present, but this time the click distance is larger then 0,5 sec. No plugins in this soundbox project loaded.

I hope this video will run smoothly also that will help with @magicguigui 's topic.

Hi,

So this is what I’m facing :

Driver config :

Last time, it was with VoiceLive Play pedal in USB but I tried today with the Ui24R console via USB also and this is the same issue.
So, it seems that the issue is related to connect sound driver in USB…
In this example, 48Khz is fixed. I cannot change. I tried different buffer size but same result.

New information :
I used Asio4All with the sound driver of my PC. So no USB connexion, and this is the same behavior.

Then use the Control Panel, does that work?

Still with 2.1.7?

That was 13days back. Currently
I was practicing a lot with 2.1.7. and didn’t hear such any more, but… will check with the sinus again just to give precise feedback…

Just got back. Here is the test:
There are continous audible micro-crackles playing the SINE WAVE, meanwhile recording it internally and opening later in editor: shows a clean sine
Képernyőkép 2024-10-08 002357

The test SINE WAVE is still the same:
220.wav

(Meanwhile were performing today with v2.1.7 w.o. issue)

How? With the built-in “Record Main” function?
If so: this records directly what is beeing sent out to the audio interface, without further modification, so if the recorded signal is clean, the problem lies outside.

Yes, with the bult-in “Rec Main”, while connected my UAD thunderbolt interface to WIN.
Now tried the same with MacOS, built-in sound, the problem is different (the topic opener little sound issue at stop/play appears and the little jitters are coming randomly).

Can I kindly ask you to put the WAV file to a sandbox project (or empty) and hit play, listen… stop, cycle a while. Does it goes 100% by playing, by start/stop/cycle, at any circumstances?

Dear @musicullum , sry for follow up, but concerns me . I would appreciate any feedback after you can try the same WAV 220Hz-SINE (you suggested the use of pure sine a few posts above):

Just as concerned as you are…
One question: when you play/record this file, what is your device sample rate?

Dear @musicullum , Bingo! …
While that is awesome VL is trying to convert-on-the-fly seemlessly the 44.1kHz file that is PLAY-ed at 48kHz audio-interface-sample-rate (the reason i didn’t get it because wasn’t “out of tune despite of the samplerate missmatch”).

Yepp, seems the micro crackles are exclusively around here. And…

…and played too. But all my show files and settings are @48kHz
