I would love to see a real-time note and chord display in Cubase, similar to the feature available in Fender Studio Pro.
Feature Description
While playing a MIDI keyboard, Cubase would display:
- The currently pressed notes (e.g. C3 - E3 - G3)
- The detected chord (e.g. C Major, Am7, Fmaj9, G7sus4)
- The display should update instantly as notes are played or released.
Why this would be useful
This would greatly improve the composing workflow by allowing users to:
- Instantly verify the chord they’re playing.
- Learn and analyze harmony while composing.
- Work faster without needing third-party plugins.
- Quickly identify complex chords during songwriting.
This feature would be especially valuable for producers, composers, beginners, and educators.
Optional Enhancements
- Show inversions (e.g. C/E, Am/C).
- Display the current key/scale compatibility.
- Optional floating window or dockable panel.
- Optional MIDI Monitor integration.
- Option to enable/disable the display.
A simple live chord and note display would be a small addition but would significantly improve the MIDI composition workflow in Cubase.
