I have Dorico Pro 5 on my iMac (paid for full software) and I would like to have it on my Macbook Air. I have no idea how to do it. Can someone help? When I look at my profile, I can see that my Dorico Pro 5 is active, but nowhere do I see any registration or license number.
Simply install the Steinberg Download Assistant on the second machine. This should also provide Activation Manager, and probably Steinberg Library Manager as well.
You can use Download Assistant, or your installation media to install the version that is most appropriate for your OS. You’ll open the Activation Manager, and log it in to your MySteinberg account (it finds your keys on your account when you log in). From there you can ‘activate/deactivate’ the Steinberg offerings on your account.
Note that if you wish to roll back to Dorico Versions older than 4, you’ll need an old eLicenser key (probably on a USB dongle). As a registered Dorico 5 Pro user, I think you can run the latest releases of Dorico 4.5, and any Dorico 5 release without any kind of ‘dongle’. You can have multiple versions installed at one time and choose the one you want/need. You can also hold various key combos to launch in the smaller versions if you ever need that (testing things in Elements and SE to share with students and such).
Go with the latest version if you can, of course, but in some cases, with some OSes and System combos, it might be helpful to know you can roll back to 4.5, or even earlier if you have a dongle and old eLicenser keys.
Thanks! I was finally able to do it.
By the way, how do I get pieces that I’ve written on one computer to the second one? I see that it doesn’t happen automatically by logging in with my username. I imagine they are pretty big files.
Memory stick or your favorite cloud drive?
There are probably ways to share folders on your home WAN/LAN too. I’ll leave it to a Mac guru to provide pointers for local Mac networking.
Logging into what?
Dorico files are no different from any other types of file that you may have.
If you’ve saved them on your original computer’s drive, then you’ll need to transfer them over to your new computer, using File Sharing, or Airdrop, (or even just dragging across using Continuity).
If you saved them to iCloud Drive, or DropBox, OneDrive, etc – then they should be available once you’ve configured your new computer with the same account details.
Most Dorico files are only a couple of Mb each.
Thanks. I didn’t realize how small the files were. Easy to save and mail or move to cloud and have them available.
