Loading orchestral samples of woodwind SECTIONS - questions

Three questions re. loading section/solo samples:

  1. If flute 1 and flute 2 are given the same line, does HSSE actually play the two flutes’ samples, or just one flute sample? Would the same happen in Dorico 3.5?

  2. Does the same thing occur If flute 1 and flute 2 are given the same line, and their staves are condensed (a2)? Same in Dorico 3.5?

  3. If one happens to have a orchestral sample of an actual flute section (e.g., 2 or 3 flutes, in unison), can an expression map control be made so that Dorico will automatically use that flute section whenever an “a2” passage occurs? Same in Dorico 3.5?

Thanks.

When you have condensed music in Dorico, each instrument is played back from its separate staff, so Dorico doesn’t use different samples for unison or a 2 passages, since it just continues playing each instrument as it ordinarily would.

The HALion Symphonic Orchestra samples that come with Dorico don’t contain separate patches for e.g. flute 1 and flute 2; the exception being sectional violins, where there are indeed separate patches for violin 1 and violin 2.

Thanks for clarifying, Daniel.
