There is no real build in system.
If you need to provide cross platform applications it is more common to use cross platform tools for certain tasks.
What is the problem with bonjour? I guess there is none.
Like a lot of people, I don’t want software installed for which I have absolutely no use. I have with over a gigabyte of Avid plugins, 32-bit plugins, VST2 plugins, etc, all installed willy-nilly by various vendors, including Steinberg.

This folder was actually created last October 2025 when I reinstalled everything. I actually deleted the partition and let setup create a new one. So I wonder what is so special about 7th Dec 2019?

The iLOK Manager installer does not give any option to not install Bonjour.
I quickly said “au revoir” to it.

I still don’t understand what the problem is.
Bonjour is commonly used as an implementation of Zeroconf.
Ilok manager is able to run as a network service, that’s why it is bundled with bonjour.
Microsoft m-DNS service isn’t available for macOS and Bonjour is Open-Source.
And the installation uses 660 kilobytes of disk space.
I’m not sure there is one other than the OPs original complaint which I’ve not been able to replicate with the same software.
