Are you already familiar with the behavior when you
- set ‘Cycle Follows Range Selection’ and
- use the Range tool for setting the cycle?

thanks for that tip, this does indeed use all the conventions I’m used to, like CTRL snap override etc.
I’ll see how it integrates into my workflow, but I can’t see why it wouldn’t work. I’ve actually never used range selection before, believe it or not… 
I’d use this mainly for comping takes, since I need very precise (read: less annoying!) cycle repeats for finding the best takes…
