Lock Duration behaviour (turns off when it encounters a longer rest)

I use lock duration all the time to quickly enter rhythms, slurs, ornaments and all sorts of other markings all before I add the pitches on a second pass. Recently the lock duration mode automatically shuts off when it encounters an arbitrary number of bars rest, where it used to skip to the next note regardless of how long the instrument wasn’t playing. Is there a way to resume the old behaviour? I find myself having to go back when it suddenly starts inputting dozens of the same note value when it encounters a 4-bar rest.

There is a Preference in Dorico’s Preferences that deals with Lock Duration. See if changing this helps:
