I’m using Dorico 5 and find myself regularly switching between full score in Write mode and one of my parts in Engrave mode. Whenever I switch to Engrave mode and then back to Write mode, it returns to page view. Is there any way to lock Write mode into both full score and galley view? I’m wasting a lot of time toggling it back on when switching between modes.
Welcome to the forum, @m.macdonald!
If I use two tabs, one for the score and one for the part, I can do the following:
- View score in Write mode, Galley view
- Switch to part tab, switch to Engrave mode
- Switch to score tab, switch to Write mode – and I’m back in Galley view
If I’m using just a single tab, I can do the following:
- View score in Write mode, Galley view
- Switch to part, switch to Engrave mode
- Switch to score, switch to Write mode – and I’m back in Galley view
Do these sequences of operations not work that way for you? Or are you using a different sequence?
This helps a little - I haven’t been using tabs. I’d love if there was an option to keep one tab in “Write Mode + Full Score + Galley View” and another tab in “Part + Engrave Mode”.
You can infer from the fact that the mode indicator appears above document tabs that you can’t set the mode independently on different tabs – the mode applies to everything in the window.
However, you can also open a second window on the same document (Window > New Window, or Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+T). Then you could set up one window in Write mode with the score in Galley view, and the other window in Engrave mode with the part.
Thank you! Appreciate the advice.
