Lock the project window view to a specific time

Hello everyone,

I’d like to suggest a feature that I believe could be very helpful for many Cubase users. The core idea is to have the ability to lock the project window view to a specific time (real, musical or digital), so that when zooming out, the rest of the project does not automatically appear in the view.

I think it would be particularly useful to have an option that allows us to focus both on isolated sections and transitions between those sections. In other words, to be able to fix and lock the visual area in a way that supports detailed work both within a specific part (like a chorus) and in the transitions to and from it, without the window unintentionally jumping elsewhere in the project.

I believe this would greatly benefit small and large projects, making workflow even smoother.

It would be great to ear thoughts about this. I didn’t really researched about it but it is something I always wanted to do during editing and mixing.

Many thanks!

I’m having a difficult time just understanding the first paragraph.

Lock the Project Page to a specific time. Then when zooming out, the rest of the Project Page does not appear in that view? You are addressing the Project Page and not specifically any tracks?

This sort of suggests the use of Show/Hide. For example in my Project Page if I just want the pianos to show up, since I have them listed with a 3 letter prefix, I press a button, ie Key Command, and the only tracks that show up in the Project Page are piano tracks.

Is this like taking advantage of markers or cycle markers then using Locators to selection, then snap?

You might want to take a look at the Zoom Mem & Zoom Zap Commands.

Do you have Auto Scroll unintentionally turned on?

I use Auto Scroll sometimes but it is not the case.

I have looked everywhere. Can’t see where I can add the tag now.

Yes i also hide tracks. Show/Hide tracks i need for the task. I want to be able to do the same with a period of time. Only show a certain duration of the project regardless of the project’s duration. It is not the same as all Zoom options, using Workspaces or other techniques.

Thanks a lot. The pencil/edit icon is not available for me. I am a very recent forum user, maybe that’s the reason.

Hi, thank you for your help renaming the topic and adding a tag. The pencil/edit icon is not available for me. I am a very recent forum user, maybe that’s the reason.

Yeah a lot of capabilities on the forum are based on your Trust Level. But I’d expect it wouldn’t take much to increase it enough - check the Forum Guide.

The good side is we don’t get spammed.
