Logical MIDI Editor select note off grid/unquantized?

Thanks for your reply! So the end value (highest) input into the Logical MIDI Editor should always be 1920, regardless of the particular note value I want selected? is this correct?

So far the highest I went is 1800 - 1801.

Hi,

1920 is the next bar already. This means 1. 1. 1. 1920 (Bar 1 plus 1920 ticks) = 2. 1. 1. 0.

Therefore, you don’t have to do the 1920-1921 in your preset, because this is covered by the 0-1 already.

Thanks for your reply - I was just testing my original Logical Editor patch and it selects ANY note value regardless of grid setting, etc that is not quantised or “locked” to the grid - which is great - but you said the original patch starting from 0-1, 120-121, etc would only cover 16th, 8th, 1/4 & 1/2 - and my testing show this not to be the case as 32nd & 64th get selected. Even the new patches starting with 0-1, 30-31 and 0-1, 60-61 select any note value not locked to the grid…

This in not a problem :grinning: - this makes life easier - but not what I expected.

Hi,

Sorry, but on the screenshot, I can see that only Notes out of the grid become selected. This is the expected result (from my point of view). I don’t see any of the note would sit on the grid of 1/32 or 1/64.

Correct! Maybe I misunderstood your previous messages about note selection?:

‘‘Please, be aware, your preset is made for 1/16 notes. Luckily, this covers all higher options, like 1/8, 1/4, 1/2. But it wont won’t for 1/32 and neither for any tuplets. It should also work for 3/4 Time signature and 2/4, but not for 5/4 and higher.’’

This led me to believe that smaller note values like 32nd & 64th notes would not be selected if they were also off grid - but they are! :grinning: - Even though the patch starts with 0 - 1, 120 - 121, etc (not 0 - 1, 30 - 31, etc).

Hi,

It’s the other way around: If the note doesn’t sit at the grid of 1/16, 1/8 (what is already part of 1/16, I.e. every 2nd 1/16 is 1/8), 1/4 (what is also already part of 1/16)… so in fact if it doesn’t sit at the grid of 1/16, then the note becomes selected.
