I tried using Shift+L putting lines below notes for a worksheet (the task for the pupil is to write the specification of a chord) but couldn’t achieve, underlines were always very short even if I pressed the key consecutively 10 times. Is there any way to solve this?
Hi @kaposi.g, you can enter this with Shift+option(alt)+-:

Thank you so much!!!
Here are a couple of recent threads like might offer other useful approaches to @Christian_R’s and @jesele’s helpful replies (though they no doubt overlap):
Dear @Christian_R , I’ve tried this, and the result was really poor, very short and curved line below the note. Your short animation is so clear, simple and clever. What should I have done to achieve the same result?
It must depend on the keyboard language: sorry I use a German keyboard and the Shift let me produce the longer line (not the minus). Probably you are adding an elision slur. Maybe is here some expert on multi language keyboard usage with lyrics, to “translate” my keyboard shortcut?
It just doesn’t work. I’ve tried with loads of different combination, and got a few really funny results but not the desired one. I’m using a Hungarian keyboard but till now I coped with the differences.
Hi @kaposi.g , try instead to put this into the lyrics popover:
alt - - (alt and the normal minus key twice)
(I tried it with the Hungarian language set on my keyboard and it works
)
Wow! And wow again! I really appreciate your kind help! Yes, the line is dashed, but the more ‘-’ I press, the longer the wole pattern is. What means, even if it is not the final solution, it works absolutely efficiently, no one of the monsters and pirates (I mean my pupils
) will complain that the line is not straight if it is on the right place!!!![]()
@kaposi.g
Strangely in my try with alt - - the line is not dashed…(I am on MacOS, maybe Windows behaves differently?)
Another temporarily solution, is to change temporarily your keyboard language to German in the OS, and use my first suggested shortcut.
I better don’t change anything on my keyboard. I am Albert Einstein in being totally clumsy in IT, so if I tried it, probably it will turn to Shingalese and never will be able to get back to any European setting. Anyway, this dashed line long enough is cool at the moment, I don’t want to use any other tool in Dorico but this. So you helped me a lot and I am really so greatful!
