On the flipside of that coin… some guys may have a fav-of-all-time vst2 plugin that has no vst3 equivalent and/or nothing similar in works/sound only because…well…the dev died 10 years ago and the underlying code not available.
A dead dev…the ultimate rogue move to escape recoding to vst3 :). Talk about slackers
At any rate, I too, don’t have a problem with sb doing whatever they need to do. I can always run old vst2 stuff if need be on older, slaved computers/cubendo versions that run them…use stuff like bluecat etc.
No end to the available solutions (other than dead devs )
As an addendum…I forget most of the story regarding the Hypersonic 2 dev (alive I presume), but no matter what anyone says, that was pretty cool sounding thing…and imo, nothing in halion/halionsonic with quite those sounds. And the code is unobtanium …by dev choice I think.
Same with Eric’s/uvi Trilogy bass. Really liked that way better than Trillian…still run it. Will always have a way to run it. Same with those quirky old Edirol Super Quartet, Orchestral, & whatever the third one is…I still run those too.
Reminds me, I’d better buy the vst2 Morgana now while I still can. That dev’s family still offers it although he’s been gone many years.
Vintage rare unobtanium vst/vst2 plugins.
Now we’re talkin’ !!
