Sorry if this is not purely a Cubase question, but it stands to reason that many Cubase users may know the answer.
I’m looking for some VSTi that comes with different types of orchestral noises, the kind of noises you would hear in a studio between takes, for example musicians breathing, coughing, and noises like that, which at times you can hear in real recordings.
Symphobia 2 has one, but it’s rather basic. It’s called Concert Hall and has two options. The typical noise where several instruments are playing each their own thing disregarding the rest (that has a name that evades me now), and one that is basically the microphone recording the studio completely empty, so it’s like a hiss that plays as long as the note plays, and if you add another note, it gets louder and so on.
I would like something more realistic, with a few more options. Anybody knows what I’m talking about?
Nice, didn’t know that one. Might be worth to have a look at the licensing :
Provided you keep to these rules, the BBC grants you permission to use the BBC content but only…
For non-commercial, personal or research purposes (for example, including the content on a non-commercial, advertisement-free reminiscence website aimed at helping trigger memories in people with dementia)
For formal education purposes while you are a student or a member of staff of a school, college or university (for example, if you are enrolled on a university or college course, or if you are a school pupil, or you are a teacher and you wish to display the content on an electronic whiteboard, including images in a printed class worksheet)
I just checked and freesound still exists (used it years ago), has dozens of result for cough . Mostly different CreativeCommons Licenses, as far as I can see.
I actually did that myself a couple of times. Just the inhaling and exhaling. But I was looking for something more professional that was recorded in the same usual studios where libraries are recorded, like Air in London and so on.
That’s the problem if I were to use them in something of my own that I want to sell. I could use them in my mockups, but if I compose something of my own and want to sell, you never know what algorithm might pick it up. Hell, the Soundcloud algorithm tells me I’m uploading something copyrighted every time I do a mockup of classical music. It’s not even consistent, one time it tells me that my upload is the right piece but by this director and orchestra, and after I fight it with Soundcloud and they put it back, if I upload a revision with minimal work, the algorithm takes it down again, saying it’s the correct piece, but a totally different director and orchestra.
So the noises I’m looking for have to be from a library. Considering how many of them I have, most likely I have that in more than one, but loading each one and going through every single preset would take a month or two.
