Loop range vs loop locators

I realise there is both of the above, loop selection and play loop is great but workflow wise Im not sure if Im missing something

Locators and loops are generally a mid zoom type of repeat on a song, you work around that area eg verse and yes I have cycle markers for that (although I just use the arrangement now as track markers have their own issues)

BUT

Quite often I just want to select a range when trouble shooting but not change my main loop ie a local loop as its called in some other daws (but also in some editors in Cubase)

Is there a way to select a range and have it loop on the range only and when the range selection is removed it jumps back to locator looping?

Anyone else used this in other DAWs and finds it missing in Cubase?
