In the Global Stack I couldn‘t select the Virtual Connection as Out … there was only the detour with a Out Channel that worked so far. I try that again.
Aaah, sorry, I wrote a bit incomplete. Try this - create connection VOUT in Connections. Then add OUT in Mixer, name it StackOut, route its output to VOUT. Then you choose StackOut for your Stack output.
Ok Arthur, I know that … ciro and Clive already told me. My wish is that it would be as you described in your „incomplete“ description. That would be wonderful, to use the (virtual) OUT Cable from whatever out and put it in any IN I wish … without taking a detour. I feel like the bad guy here having this wish and I still don’t understand why you all say „Yeah, that would be great“, too.
That’s the perspective from my users point of view. The only ones who could have a legit reason to find this „kind of bad“ may be the Devs, because there could be things that don’t fit in the actual concept/design of the App. If that‘s the point then ok … probably take it on the long term list if you ever have any reason to rework your concept anyways. Why are so many people here liking and loving the posts that describe workarounds and so few (or any) this wish I have?
Please don‘t get me wrong: much love and thanks for your help you all aply. ![]()
I already rework my project the way you suggested, but I‘d like to keep dreaming that it could be easier.
I agree. A little. Theoretically more flexibility always is appreciated. But…
Imagine the other way - you have hundred songs, each song has stack routed to MAIN out or Group. Then something’s changing in Mixer setup and you need to reroute all them one by one to another output or whatever. One by one! With current design if all your stacks are routed to an OUT and you just connect that output channel to whatever you need, real or virtual. This also is flexible enough.
But as I said, I agree a little. We never know what might cross our minds at any moment.
Ok, I understand that point. In my case I don’t have a Stack pointing direct to an Output, I have a signal chain that is in the end combined in a Master Songroup before routed to an Out.
It’s not that simple. Inputs and Outputs must have a device and its in/out port.
We were considering to internally create one to enable what you wish. But when testing it turned out that you can end up with hundreds of connections which are invisible, and also the list of targets for possible output selections may converge to infinity if you have many plugs, tracks, layers etc.
One posiibility would be a selection in the output lists “Create connection” followed by a dialog where you can set the destination. This would just do the same as with the “detour”, create a virtual output and a virtual input for the destination.
Thanks for looking into that.
If I understood you right one idea would be to automate the manual steps for creating the ciro-detour
… I think there is no need for that and a user has to understand how this works to use it properly - there are probably other things more relevant to spend time on.
If you ever have something like the cable-only-idea or a practical implementation of your thought about a hidden/internal created channel, then that’s where I’d say your time is better invested.
I reworked my project the way ciro and Clive suggested, so I could wait until you stumble upon a solution you feel comfortable implementing without risking other side effects.
Thanks for hearing me out … I felt a little lost in the recent discussion. ![]()
