Sound output did not happen on my original Dorico SE installation until one day I heard notes as I entered them. Still working after my upgrade to 6.1. Now, one day playback is working, the next day no sound. The same across all projects. These circumstances do not seem to align with known issues. I was not installing anything new or fiddling with the playback settings in any non-trivial way. Then my system hung up (possibly dynamic memory leakage from installed apps) and I still had no sound after the reboot. I then started looking at the internet resources for Dorico playback but quickly became lost in the tangled maze of Halion Sonic7 screens. I am still trying to get the scores input at this stage, not focused on playback except for verification of score correctness. I do not have any synthesisers on my system, which is a November 2022 Metabox laptop. Windows 11 Device Manager shows my sound card as NVIDIA High Definition Audio (default Metabox option). Driver version 1.3.39.16, 18/07/2022. Processors are 20 x 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900H. All suggestions welcome.
You’ll need to provide a Diagnostic Report (from the Help menu).

I assume your problem to be a driver problem and not of Dorico’s audio engine.
In order to find out, the next time you get no audio out, please try and switch on the Metronome and see if at least the metronome sound gets through. Also in the Play mode, have a look at the channel fader for DoricoBeep (that’s the plug-in producing the Metronome sound), is there any metering flickering then? Same for the master channel (the red one on the rightmost side), is there also metering going?
If you don’t get any audio, please do from Dorico’s menu Help > Create Diagnostic Report and post here the corresponding zip file.
It won’t become easy but in the end we will figure out what is going wrong on your end.
I have generated the Dorico Diagnostics file, but it is larger than 4Mb, which this software cannot handle. Dorico Beep, Output and all other sliders flicker as the score plays, but I hear no output, even with sound from other applications playing simultaneously. Please advise how I can send you the diagnostics.
