Lost all export functionality

In trying to export an MusixXML file, Dorico Pro 5 hung. I ended the Dorico and VSTAudioEngine tasks and then tried again. The software hung again. I then tried again with the a different Dorico file, with the same result. I then tried all Export functions such as MIDI. Nothing works. I have rebooted my computer more than once. The only solution that I can see is to uninstall and reinstall Doric. Are there any other solutions?

Welcome to the forum.

Can you launch Dorico sufficiently to create a Diagnostic Report from the Help menu?

Are you on Windows or Mac?

One possible cause of problems is if you have lots of third-party VSTs, which you could try removing from the Audio plug-ins folder of your computer.

You will find attached the Diagnostic Report.

I seem to have all functionality, including the ability to play the music using third-party VSTs, except Exporting.

One of the team (perhaps @Ulf ) will look at it.

But you could try a few trouble shooting tests, like use a different audio device; remove some of your third-party VSTs; generally reducing any complexity in your setup.

Re-installing rarely works, unless something is missing from the install – as you’ll just be replacing the same files. All your config and other software that might be interfering will still be there.

Thank you.

I will wait for a reply from you before trying anything else.

Removing third-part VSTs and then replacing them sounds very complicated. In addition, I have been using the same VSTs for over two years without any problems. Also, I have been using the same song structure in Dorico, using the same VSTs, for months. I always start with the same template. For some reason, all Export functions just decided to stop working this morning.

All VSTs continue to work with Cubase 12.

Thanks for you help.

Thanks for the data, @paulglendonharris .

Unfortunately I can’t find a hint in there of why export does not work with you anymore. There is only one thing I can think and that is, does maybe behind the Dorico window an alert box pop up and therefore blocking everything?

Other than that I have no idea. Could my dear colleague @dspreadbury have a look…? Thanks

Ulf,

Thank you very much for your help.

There was not an alert box that popped up. However, your comment got me thinking and I realized that for some reason, the enquiry box related to the details for a given Export displayed on my 2nd screen, which was not turned on, and which I hardly ever use. This, obviously, was the first time this ever happened.

Thank you again for your help.
