Dorico Diagnostics.zip (1.1 MB)
I am compiling a tune book for a community contra band, based on an existing book. Re-engraving with Dorico, reordering, eliminating some tunes etc. Each tune has been done as a separate project by me or a collaborator and now I am putting it all together. I’m new to Dorico; long-time, low-grade Finale user. Lille Harris got me lined out on the Facebook page to compile it by importing each tune project as a flow. Things are going great until I tried to play back a tune to maybe change a couple of notes. I find I have melody playback only on the first tune, and after that, just chord playback. it seems like at first the first seven or eight tunes would play back okay. What have I done? I have attached the diagnostic zip.
Maybe I blundered onto it. In the playback screen, channel 1 works (Port 1 Channel 1). Almost all of them have some other channel selected: 4, 6, whatever). Changing them to 1 fixes it. So it seems at 10:00 at night. If I’m right, I wonder how that happened in the first place, but I’ll work my way through and see if that fixes it all the way.
The first thing I would try is to re-apply the factory playback template: choose Play > Playback Template and choose one of the templates in the list with a factory icon (the one with the longest name is usually a good bet), then click Apply and Close. That should reset all the playback data for the project and get everything playing again.
Bam! That did it, and it did not do what I was doing manually: using channel 1 as the assigned channel. I have about 40 more tunes to add in from standalone projects and I’ll see how that goes. Thank you so much.
