This is my first attempt with Cantai.. - not so succesful.
How do i fix this:
When I click a note I get the beep sound, but when playing there’s no sound at all.
I’ve tried rebooting and cleared the cache. Same result.
It’s an xml import- maybe that’s why ?
Any help much appreciated.
Both Dorico and Cantai are latest versions.
Not to minimize your problem; no sound is definitely a problem. But I do not see an indication of “Lots” of problems.
I assume your chosen voice has simply not rendered— there are a range of possible causes. Suggest you start with creating a new short test project from scratch to ensure you know how to set things up— that usually works at least. If so, you could then post the one you have problems with to see if we can get it to work.
Thank’s for answering. I know how to set things up, and get sound in a small test project.
This project is quite a long project with some 600 bars.
If I delete from say bar 30 I do get sound, so maybe Cantai is still rendering ?
But it doesn’t show “rendering” as it is supposed to.
This is an xml file from Sibelius 7.5. Could there be something hidden in that file that throws Cantai off ?
I checked for dynamics and CC7 and CC11.
If I change to Noteperformer there are no problems.

I’ve had problems with files that had lyrics already entered, in a way I could not remember. Checking those syllables out showed many of those that would last more than one note were not correctly entered (space bar missing), and that helped with Cantai (older version, but still, that’s something sensitive and it seems logical to be). So yes, I would spend some time with the lyrics.
I found for instance that no files where the vocals were previously rendered with SynthesizerV would render. Tech support are still trying to work out why. Most other files in English have been fine. So there may well be something with the MusicXML import it doesn’t like but that in itself probably isn’t the issue as several of my successful projects were initially Sibelius xml conversions. Might be worth posting the project to see if it works for others.
So - I deleted all the lyrics and put in a few new words, and now I got sound.
Not so strange it didn’t work properly since the lyrics were in Danish.
But it would be nice with some kind of warning from Cantai - instead of just silence.

English and Latin are the only supported languages at present. Some have managed to get others to work but I gave up with German when Richard — quite reasonably— said the they wouldn’t investigate issues in other languages.
I managed to get reasonable Swedish with SynthV but Danish would be pretty hard, I suspect, with its very distinctive vowels. I could try in SynthV as an experiment if you like but I’d be surprised if anyone managed to get passable Danish in Cantai.
FWIW, I agree that it would be more helpful if Cantai could give some sort of “unable to render “ warning instead of silence.
